Vasilis Papageorgiou, visual artist and SNF ARTWORKS Fellow 2018, will inaugurate the ARTWORKS x LUMA partnership with a 3-month position. During his residency at LUMA Arles, Papageorgiou will conduct research on the sculptural elements that are structuring the public space of the region, as well as the everyday rituals that these elements delineate. Meanwhile he will examine light as a component of public space as well as its representation in painting which has been inextricably linked with the South of France.

Vasilis Papageorgiou (b. 1991 in Athens/GR) is an artist living and working in Athens. Papageorgiou has presented his work in the 7th Athens Biennale – Eclipse (2021), at the Benaki Museum, Athens in collaboration with New Museum, New York (2019), Stavros Niarchos Cultural Foundation (2019), MAXXI – the National Museum of 21st Century Arts (2019), 6th Moscow International Biennale for Young Arts (2018) and the NEON Organisation (2018) among others. He has been the recipient of various fellowships and awards, most recently the Matteo Viglietta Award – Collezione La Gaia, Turin (2022). Papageorgiou is the co-founder of Enterprise Projects, an artist & curator initiative and project space, active in Athens since 2015.
